Pennsylvania State Police were on the scene of a fatal crash that occurred on July 4, on State Route 54 in Mahanoy City.

According to an information release, around 7:53 p.m. John Coleman, 62, of Shenandoah was killed after being struck in a head-on crash by a 2001 Subaru Legacy reportedly driven by Dalilah Trygar, 31, of Mahanoy City.

In the release, state police report that Trygar, who was travelling west behind a 2022 Ford F-250, entered the eastbound lane of travel and struck Coleman, who was operating a 2021 Royal Enfield. Coleman who was reportedly not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. Meanwhile, a third vehicle was damaged in the incident. 

Trygar, who was suspected of driving under the influence, was transported to LVHN-Pottsville for “a consented legal blood draw.”

Assisting at the scene were the West End Fire Company, Shenandoah EMS, State Police Troop L, CARS, and Forensic Service Unit.
